Myspace (founded 2003) and Facebook (founded 2004) are both social networking sites. In June 2006 Myspace was the most popular site but Facebook took over the spot in April 2008.

Myspace was created by people with little HTML experience and the Myspace homepage fails HTML validation. Members are allowed to customize their profiles with designing elements, colors, photos, and layouts.

Facebook includes many features that allow users to interacte with one another. Users can post on eachothers walls and "Poke" each other. Members may also upload photos and videos on to their sites. There is also blogging within facebook in the "notes" section. Facebook has over 300 million (active) users
The media often compare Facebook to MySpace, but one significant difference between the two websites is the level of customization.[66] MySpace allows users to decorate their profiles using HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), while Facebook only allows plain text.[67]
